Loss of weight, gutting car would lose what?
justa random thought as a friend of mine and myself gutted his miata today and seems like we lost at least a lil over 100lbs in unsprung weight..
if one were to remove:
door panels, plastic kicks, carpets, dead pedals, secret compartment, other compartment, plastic under top, trunk linking, tool kit, spare, foam stuff in trunk, all plastic around roll bars, plastuc behind seats, console leather, console piece, radio, speakers, plastic around radio, radio door, misc plastic pieces under hood, oem lip, pass seat,
pretty much everything thats easily lost... leaving dash and gauages and roll bar
how much you think that would amount to lost?

I've removed around 170 pounds from my car and I only drive with 1/3 of a tank at a time. I will tell you, that the rare occaisions where I fill the tank I can notice a difference. Weight makes a huge difference in this car. I'm constantly looking for new ways to lose weight and keep it streetable.

The only reason to remove 100lbs is to get closer to removing 300....if you're going to gut the interior, why not just keep going and take out the AC, SRS/Airbags, cruise, etc....
If your car never sees the track, it's not worth it....if street performance is what you're after, sell the S, buy an Evo and reflash the ECU.
