Default lug socket

quick question, I was going to use my impact wrench the other day only to realize I didn't have the right socket. I'm not at home so I can't check and I don't remember which it was I needed.

I have a 1/2 inch impact wrench. Are the sockets 6pt? Also, should I get a deep socket?

Bonus Question:
Anybody know what a lexus GX470 uses?

For the stock lug nuts, you need a 19mm=3/4" socket. Get 6-point, not 12-point. I don't think that a deep socket is necessary, but it might avoid scratching the shiny domes of the stock lug nuts. Finally, there are sockets made specifically for impact wrenches that are typically colored flat black. If you want to be as safe as possible, you should get one of those.

The other common size for lug nuts is 21mm=13/16"

The OEM lugs are 19mm. 6-point or 12-point socket shouldn't matter for the wheel lugs unless they're seized for some reason. You won't need a deep socket either.

No clue on the Lexus...

A little pricy but well worth it.

Or these if you're a cheapskate:

17mm, 19mm, 21mm set for $10

All the sizes, $22

I have the HF set. Like most HF stuff, it works OK but it is cheap. The "protective" plastic on the 19mm socket (the only one I use 99% of the time) eventually cracked and fell off. I still use it.

Thanks, I just picked up a 19 and 21 impact wrench from Sears at lunch. It doesn't have the plastick jacket but I'm guessing as long as I'm careful it should be okay.
