Default Max Angelelli's comments on S2000 at Laguna Seca

S2000
Best Lap (min:sec) 1:50.738
72.8 MPH AVG
1.40g Peak Lateral Acceleration

"Honda's F1-inspired engine and close-ratio gearbox obliged Angelelli's inclination toward gentle, controllable power-on oversteer exiting corners of varying speeds, and he appreciated the S2000's ligh, direct, intuitive steering and neutral demeanor. He found faullt with the brakes, which faded babdly enough to cut his run short by a lap, and with the chassis's overall rigidity, which trailed those of the closed cars." Going into the corners you can feel a twist in the beginning, and then it settles to the end of the corner." He recommends softening the rear springs for track duty."

how the hell did he pull off 1.4g's in a stock S? Thats greater than what an Elise or Enzo can pull off stock.

"peak lateral"

Maybe banked track compared to flat skidpad.

What was he driving? Did he have stock brake pads and fluid? Without knowing what he was driving it's hard to comment.

yeah a 1:50 in a bone 100% stock s2k is possible but you gotta do it early, the stock pads are only gonna be good for maybe 2 hot laps.

But its flying none the less. I too would be interested in what exactly he was driving.

All the cars in the 10-car Motor Trend comparo were 100% stock. Tire pressures were manufacturer recommended +5psi for Laguna Seca lapping. No other changes.

Interestingly, Max lapped quicker in the Mazdaspeed 3, 335i, Evo IX MR.

I'm ok with the EVO IX MR beating it, but the MS3 and 335i?

That's downright embarassment!

I take it you haven't been to laguna before. because of the hills HP is huge there. that makes perfect sense those cars were faster.
