Meridian conditions
Jason, good drive at Meridian. If you come to Dallas Tour, we'll see how bad you pound me and my old Kuhmos. (OK, I might buy new ones.)
Anyway, I note that at Meridian SS, AS and BS (and CM!) were very close on times. Was the weather changing around?

Let's see... Saturday was all dry, but I struggled with the grip all day. I think there was a fine, imperceptible layer of oil from the aviation kerosene on the surface. I couldn't keep the car's tail in line all day, and I was fighting the car all around the course. Partially why I ended the day .7 behind!
Sunday morning dawned with VERY wet pavement, but the rain was over. It was still overcast, very humid, and with no wind. The surface was not drying at all! First heat (FS, FSP, etc.) ran in very wet conditions. Second heat (SS, CM) ran in 50% dry conditions... it was drying, but very slowly. There were dry patches forming.
We ran in the third heat, where the track started 75% dry. My first run has a couple wet patches, second run was 85% dry and third was 90% dry. By the fourth heat (BS, etc.) the track was totally dry.
Even though I ran in partially damp conditions, there was MUCH more grip on Sunday. I think this is because the fine layer of oil on the surface was washed off. See CG's recent post for more about that...
We'll be there at the Dallas Tour Gregg... it will be great to meet you!
