This is the first time I've heard of Modifry's Shift Beeper. Please tell me more - what does it do? How much? Is it to help prevent downshift over-rev?

I use mine for autocross and have it set up with 300 rpm increments and 8900 tone. So I get beeps at 8000, 8300, and 8600 followed by a tone at 8900 up to the limiter. I've never used 3rd in an autocross (I have hit the limiter in 2nd), so the only thing that matters to me is how it performs in first gear. I haven't tried any other settings, but I like it very much the way it is.
The only issue is that sometimes in a short slalom or chicago box, my revs are going up and down and up between 8000 and 8500 or so, so I hear about 5 or 6 beeps and am not exactly sure when to shift as I accelerate out of the slalom. I haven't experimented to find out exactly how much hysteresis (if any) there is within the unit. I don't recall seeing any indication in the manual. Does anyone know? Modifry?
That said, this is probably the number one bang-for-the buck modification, at least for a relatively new autocrosser. Maybe as you get better, you can more intuitively *feel* the rpms. But for me, this allowed me to keep my eyes on the course which I'm sure has improved my times.

300 interval and 8,800 tone.
Works great on the street and the longer gap in time helps me on the track because it is so noisy in the car withth e windows down and then the noise is muffled by the helmet.
I keep thinkins some winter I'm going to move the speaker up to the side of the center console behind my seat, i.e. close tot he secret compartment.

I have the external buzzer Velcroed to the top of the steering column cover. Out of the way and no trouble hearing it...
