Default More spring?

Please take a look at this image.

I am running 7k front 8K rear springs and although I don't feel much body roll, it looks like I am getting quite a bit.

This is a corner I enter about 75-80MPH (turn 10 at Summit Point WV)

Do you think I could benefit from stiffer springs?

What are these rates translated to lb/inch? And what swaybars if any do you have?

350 and 450? I think, I cannot find the threads with this info anymore.

Stock 02 rear bar. Comptech adjustable bar up Front, 2 up from full soft.

I assume you are running shaved R-compounds, so you could use more springs. I had 425 front 550 rear with the same swaybar and settings, and it was a good setup for track and street. Then I went to 500 F/550 rear, then to 500 front/stock front swaybar and 650 rear/no rear swaybar, and it was still streetable with the 3-way JRZs (I think the shocks will make a big difference on street ride). I just changed the springs to 550 Front and 750 rear, and it's a really stiff ride. Will see how it is on the track in 2-weeks. Having said all this, we have had guys here run Hoosiers on stock suspension and turn incredible times.

I've found stiffer springs to be a confidence builder. when I turn the wheel and the car just goes, rather than flopping over, I can go faster, since I'm not worrying about rubbing the berms with my mirrors or elbow. It also makes the car faster in transitions. In terms of steady state grip, the difference is probably not huge.

what coilovers are you running? 7/8k sound like Zeals, and they can't take a stiffer spring very well. A stiffer spring without a shock that can control is is a pretty miserable track experience.

Thanks guys,

Yes shaved RA1's and JIC dampers....., I know JDM crap...I learned my lesson.

I will probally go with single adj JRZ's next season (when I can afford them) and try the 500-550 combo ( still want to keep the car streetable)

Cheers,

George

George,
Not sure you really want to dial out all body roll for a car that still sees street driving. Plenty of my auto buddies have set up suspensions so stiff that they just lift up the inside rear wheels now. I have dialed back the seeting on my rear Cusco bar (for my WRX) to avoid this. Would anyone recommend setting the front bar full stiff and adding a larger rear bar? The turn in at turn 10 is a really hard transition, but it looks like you are almost at the apex which I recall is slightly uphill and offcamber making it even harder.

Hey Pete,

Its not like I am going with super race only stiff springs, I think I just need to step up a notch or 2.

I have a mugen rear bar (I think it's 30MM) I tried it last year, while did make the car roll less it also made the car more prone to sudden and snap oversteer. You can try it if you want.

I think the preferred way to setup a car (at least according to Carol Smith) is to change the springs and rely less on the bars for tuning. That way you won't be lifting the inside rear wheels.

I have a set of used JRZ coilovers for sale, if you're interested. $1100. I've been trying to sell them for awhile! They have 310/380 springs on them.

George,
Thanks but no thanks on the rear bar. Sudden snap oversteer might look cool but it ain't the fastest way around the course I am picking up a MY00 front swaybar on Thursday (28mm with 5mm thick walls vs my OEM MY 03 which is 26mm with 3 mm walls). I'll see if this will help a little bit with oversteer (and I only need a liitle adjustment since I am running 205/245 with 340/380 springs).
