My S2000 at Cota
Hey guys, 2 weeks ago I had the chance to do 4 sessions at the new Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX.

Sunny, chilly and windy - the day has been a blast! The track itself is a blast (hell, it's new!). The facility is new, and you can tell. I am used to MSRH and TWS, bumpy and with bad pavement, while CotA is super smooth it lets you just focus on driving.
If you mess up you have plenty of runaways, thus we were frightened by the management as this was the first TD at CotA and we didn't want o mess it up for the next TDs to come...They basically told us "No aggressive driving". Yeah right.
The track is very wide, with ups and downs that remind me somewhat of the Nordschleife, even the blind esses although it's easy to learn the right moment to "dive in". It flows very nicely and has plenty of spots where to overtake (this was a point-by pass only).

It is a circuit hard on brakes: my top speed has been just above 130mph on the long straight and the next turn is a 90 degrees angle going downhill that tests your braking skills and your braking system. I did not experience any fading with stock calipers and superblue. You want to have also a good rebound control on your suspension system due to some change in directions with different track cambers (does it make sense?).
My S2000 did an amazing job out there, keeping up with some high HP guys and being overall well balanced for power and traction. I really felt the need to update to a better suspension after this TD (KW3 just came in yesterday - my daily driving will hate me).

Well, here are a couple of videos to give you a glimpse of the track. Be nice to me, I never even tried the track on PS3 before this day!
My best lap has been a (very) high 2.39 (AIM Solo), I believe a 2.35 is achievable after some practice. If you mess up the first of the esses you just messed up your entire lap in my opinion.

My Setup is:
Koni + Ground Control
Saner front sway bar
Test pipe + OEM header and Exhaust
Puffo Intake
XP10 front and XP12 rear
17x9 RPF1 with 255 NT01 and some old Advan A032 235s in the front ( you can tell the by understeering...)
Skip the lineup time at the beginning of the vids (sorry...)
Second session of the day
Fourth session of the day
Enjoy!

stock pads? crazy to have all those mods, but not pads.
I talked to Rick from DE and he was really happy with that event. Can't wait to go myself

I'm bringing XP12s for the first two days and XP20s for the last day...

Will totally get the vids going. I did the wifi GoPro and can sync two cameras to start / stop together. Any cool angle requests? One camera will be in the standard position that HDA used (center console). But was thinking of putting the other one inside facing front right to see cars as we're passing... or else outside right door to get some engine / exhaust / tranny sounds.
