For what it's worth every time I watch a video of some one hauling a$$ it looks like the gearing is shorter than stock.

Yep, definitely.

There are a couple of turns that most S2ks would take in 2nd gear, I just try to carry more speed into and out of them to stay in 3rd. The 4400RPM vtec engagement on the flashpro really helps with staying in 3rd gear as well.

There's one turn where most S2ks would use 3rd as well, but seeing that I'm exiting that turn at 74mph, I'd rather leave it in 4th. AP2 gearing.

Thanks for all the comments and compliments.
Good driving! I have been finding that with vtec at 4200rpm I am carrying a higher gear all the time now. My most recent track session I followed another ap2 with the stock vtec point. I think I would always gain a little bit of time when they made their 2-3 shift so carrying a higher gear is typically going to be faster. I just make sure I am in vtec or almost in vtec which is easy to do at 4200rpm! I also feel that by carrying the gear I am able to get on the gas and hit full throttle sooner as opposed to using a lower gear and having to worry about wheel spin.

^yup! That's one of the benefits when running a shorter final drive too is you can typically use a higher gear and be slightly out of peak power which is usually a little easier to drive fast. I find that with the stock AP2 gearing if you can just get vtec lower it's perfect. My next mod will definitely be a flashpro and tune.

What is the setup of your car? I am ok if you don't say it because you are in competition.

The 3.1 at MSRC is a blast to run. I too run with Apex and that lap was blistering.

Like Davidnyc, I am interested in your set up as I am looking to begin adding the performance improvement to the car, now that I have gotten the driver up to speed.

Yup, I am definitely, not that fast at MSR. I doubt I have the speed in my car to take Little Bend in 4th gear like you did. I have a stock ECU, so maybe that might be it??? Also, are you on street tires or R? I am on street tires, I feel I don't have the grip to take the corners that fast. I have a wing on order, I hope that will get me a few seconds.

Pete (pmptx) and I have been thinking of doing NASA TT, just haven't got around to doing it yet.

Wing definitely helps. I was a lot more stable after the wing. I too, want to run NASA TT, just haven't gotten to it. I run with Drivers Edge currently.

Thanks for the info. My setup is along your lines (but much milder). At the end of the year, once I kill these street tires and feel confident that I am getting on the gas soon enough (richochet and big bend makes me into a timid little boy, lol), then I will get R tires. Since I will drive out on them, I doubt, I'll get the purple crack and just get NT01s.

Again, thanks for the info.
