Default Need new motor what should I do...

Long story short, i was @ my first track day of the year monday, went thru tech inspection, and was pulling into the pits to park for drivers meeting, and I went thru a small puddle about 6-8" deep and ended up sucking water into my motor via the intake (injen). The motor got hydro locked and (most likely) bent a rod... So, I am debating on what/how to build the next engine. Easiest would be buy a complete long block and just do a swap. But if the money is going to be spent, should I build a motor to go FI or stroke a motor for NA... This is a dedicated (almost) track car. I am thirsty for more power but how much and which route...

I guess this is like a poll, what would you do? Keep in mind I would like this project to be under $6-8k.

new longblock and swap it out, rebuilding it would probably not last as long. If you want to go ont he quest for more power I guess slowly build the new block to whatever 8k will allow.

Depends on if you're planning on competing with the car or not.

I would just swap in a stock motor. Less issues with NA (especially summers), more reliability, more track time.

I agree with modmonkey. The S2000 motor is already highly strung and pushing it for more power, especially FI, does not work too well on the track. Get a used stock motor, add a cold air intake & header and enjoy the reliability and long life.

Uh, he already hydrolocked his motor once, I'd stay away from a cold air intake.

I'm assuming his CAI has a low snorkel or something? If not he didn't hydrolock his motor in a 6 inch puddle. If that was possible I would have done it a long time ago.

Swap in a used block.

Don't go FI until you can use every bit of power the NA car has.
