Strongly disagree -- there's plenty of feedback on them in the SCCA autocross community (some of which is captured in the threads linked above) indicating that they're not competitive with the Kumho V710 or Hoosier A6 in top-level autocross competition, and that they need a lot of heat to work well.

I don't know what the track community thinks of them because I'm not a big track guy myself.

i can see that as they are designed primarily as a track tire not an autox tire. Locally they have proven to work very well but at the nationals in bc i was off pace. I also dont have a front sway bar at the moment which i think was hurting me more than tires but still.

after the event khumo announced that they are going to be releasing v710's in 245 45 16. once i go through these tires i will probably switch to those. not sure if i will go staggered or 245 all around though quite yet.

Pardon?!? If that's true, you just made me very happy! I'd much rather run v710s for local events and Hoosiers for Topeka.

GRM tested the new BF R1 against other tires in an non-autox track testing.

The result was:
1. BF R1
1. Nitto NT01 (tie)
3. Hankook Ventus Z214 (tie)
4. Hoosier R6

Pretty good info!
