I've booked an R300 from Rent4Ring, which I could share (but they require you've been to the ring before to drive it). The DN event registration is per car so $ can be saved if you wanted to share a car with someone.
Anyone interested in joining me (and likely SpfinkterMC) at the ring?

Where are you coming from?
From the us the best airport to fly into is Frankfurt. and it's 1.5-2hr drive from there.
via europe flight or train to Cologne/Bonn which is about an hour away.
Best selection of rental cars at FRA but you can get a street car in any of the spots.
For the ring, I'd rent a "ring toy" ie: http://www.rent4ring.de, etc. The swift will be 10x more fun to drive there than just about any rental street car you get.

I second the renting from rent4ring.com. I rented their stage III swift and had a blast for 1/2day - 6 laps last August. Good location as well.
I'm going to try and plan a 2014 trip there and might get something faster. I kept getting held up by people that were faster in the straights. Better safe than sorry when you go there though. Also, the cheaper the car, the cheaper the replacement parts if you wreck or someone wrecks into you ;-)
I didn't get a ride in the R300 when I went but I should have. I did get a ride in an S2000 for a few laps though which was fun.

Haus marvin for a little while rented an s2k (which I got to rent before it was crashed)

And how did it compare/prepare you for the real thing?
I have yet to drive a track in real life that I've driven in a video game.
That's soon to change. They're releasing WSIR (big willow) on GT5!!!
And I eventually plan to see Laguna Seca before the 'ring...
