However, I do know that baffled oil pans are commonly used on countless other platforms as solutions to oil starvation. It would seem to me that the evidence has to be out there somewhere...but that's just an assumption.
They definitely work on some other cars. "Other". I just have seen no controlled before/after data that shows they are of value on the S2000. And most other cars don't have an inline 4 that is heavily canted over on one side.

That same KISS principle is why I am just using the OEM pan.

anyone know exactly what was failing? i have a custom made pan that is similar in design however the i used welding rod in the hinges rather than the rod they came with so they would be extremely loose and have no chance of binding. I may get a mugen pan and accusump just for piece of mind though. The baffles are also placed differently... actually the only thing thats really similar is that it uses hinges.

I have an extra one that i made from a brand new oem oil pan at the same time that i would be willing to sell if anyone is interested.
It was a piece of the baffle, not the doors.

First, you won't know it works unless you can see a drop in oil pressure which requires either a) a pressure gauge or b) a scored cylinder.

Tony,

Seems that an extra weld or two (and possibly thicker sheet metal for the baffle side that failed) would provide that extra rigidity/strength that could correct the pan's point of failure.

Sad to see the design go. Looked to be a quality product.
