Looks like a 20' trailer is going to be better for me to stay within the limits of towing with a Titan.

Buy a trailex or featherlite, costs more but you will be able to tow with just about any reasonable tow vehicle/SUV, plus you will save money on gas. My enclosed trailex with tire rack, fuel jug holders empty weighs in at roughly 2300lbs. Save up and do it right the first time.

we use a featherlite aluminum one now. you can open the doors fine. It has fancy fenders that unclip with ease.

I have heard 75% as a rule. I was thinking the trailer would be 3,500 and the car plus other misc stuff 3,000 lbs including add-ons. That is about 72% which leaves a little bit of weight for people and some other things. I suppose I need to be looking in the 3500 lb or less range. Price-wise, the lower the better as anyone would say. I was looking in the $5k-$6k range, but it seems it may be worth it to wait a little bit longer and save up a few thousand more.
If you're only towing short distances and have that kind of budget restriction, consider an open trailer.

You can get a stripped down cheapo enclosed steel trailer new for $5-6k. But it'll be heavy.

give you an example:
http://www.internet-trailer.com/HaulmarkCu...etItemID=652372

click on "add options" on the top right. you have ~22 categories, in each category, you have 5-30 options. that's a lot of options.

all open trailers can be purchased with a fender drop option, so you can open the door.

Measure your door height as it sits race trim. Then you will know if it clears the fender. Stock ride height will clear "most" fenders on open and enclosed trailers. There is a guy on these boards that pull a 20" enclosed with either a Titan or Tundra, he says it pulls fine. I personally like deisel for towing and would not use anything else unless I pull an open trailer but I don't. You may not find a lot of black trailers because they get really hot inside during the summer. The difference in weight from a 20' to a 24' may not be great and most 24' come with 5,200 lb. axles vs. the 3,200 lb. on the 20'. What this also means is the wheel/tire package also have heavier capacity. Mine is a used Haulmark, 1998 model, that I bought 2 years ago for less than $3,500 and it was rough but gets the job done. Good luck in your search and I hope I was able to help a little. The more specific the questions the better we can offer tips.

I read this and immediately thought to myself 'WTF is this guy on about? Open trailers don't have doors!'
