Nuetral Handling on R-compound tires
I can finally report I got very balanced and neutral handling with G-Force R-1's. Here are the sizes:- 205/50-17 front, 235/40-17 rear, same rolling radius as stock. Comptech front (28% stiffer)and rear (10% stiffer) swaybars, but otherwise stock.
The car seemed as balanced as with the stock S-02's. I was running at Summit Point, temps between 50 to 70 degrees. They did not grip at all, and a friend running a Trans-am had the same low grip with the R-1's at Summit as I did. The trans-am changed to Hoosiers and ran 4-5 seconds faster. However, the low grip and cornering speeds gave me the confidence to push the tires and slide them aggresively. There wasn't any tendency to snap oversteer. The car was very balanced and predictable, so my guess is a "30" tire stagger works well.
