Odd noise under braking
At the first open track event here in Nebraska I experienced a strange feeling under heavy braking from the front left. It felt like scraping. After close inspection of the brake pads and rotors, I did not find anything that would indicate a rough surface or any scraping. I have the Cobalt VR/VX combo. I did notice that the boot around the caliper was torn. I asked some people at the track and they did not seem to think the torn boot would be an issue. The left front was also the only boot that was torn. The feeling was sort of like ABS, but the peddle was not pulsing or pushing back. I left early because I lost confidence in the brakes.
Any ideas?

Tire rubbing? Could be ABS as I don't find there is much pulsing in the pedal when ABS is activated from high speed, but that could just be me.
I did have the SPC cambe kit installed for this event set the to -3.1, so I'd have less tire contact.
I was overheating the pads last year (before camber kit) and I was not activating ABS.
Couple things to consider:
With more camber you have less tire contact for braking, so less braking than before and more prone to activate ABS. That's the compromise.
Depending on the wheel/tire you are running (what are they?), with this camber you might also get rubbing on the inside-top of the tire with the inner fender-well. You will need to remove the wheel to see if this happened. While you are at it, check the top of the fender-well to see if there might be rubbing anywhere, even the top above the tire.

Oh, check the SPC camber jpint to make sure it didn't slip or something. I added some paint to mine when I installed it so I could easily see if anything moves (none to date after lots of tracking). Oh, for tire rubbing you will see the abrasion on the fender liner from the tire, as well as you might see a wear mark on the circumference of the tire.
Oh, this might also be due to a cracked rotor, and may not be easily seen if it's cracked on the inside. Check this too. Might be easiest if you flip up the caliper, remove the pads and inspect with a mirror or by touch.

Is it an odd noise or odd feeling or both? If it's a feeling, I'm not sure how you're determining that the feeling is coming from the left front. In any case...do a thorough visual inspection--if nothing comes out of it, swap rotors from L to R and see if the grinding noise comes from the other side.
Certain pad/rotor combinations just make lots of noises that sound unusual. May be that nothing is wrong at all.
