I assume he means the rubber seal around the bottom of the hard top where it sits on the car (below rear window).

I actually mean the black rubber/plastic seal that runs on the car not the top. It is the rubber that runs around the edge of the car and then the hardtop sits on this.

I find that there is a fingertip gap around the entire base of the car and top. Figured maybe I need this rubber seal removed from the car to get a better fit of the top???

I was still able to use 4 mounting points per side. I left the crossmember in place & at each end there is a piece of metal that will allow you to use all 4 bolts. You will need 2 washers on each side for each of the 12mm bolts. Then you will need 2 nuts for the smaller 10mm bolts since they used to screw in to the motors.

you can reduce this gap without touching the rubber seal by losening, adjusting and re-tightening the hardware on each side of the hardtop.

just mark how high each hardware piece is with a pencil, losen the 3 bolts and move it up a little bit, retighten and see if the gap is better. once satisfied make sure both sides are close to the same.
