Ohlins DFV or Custom Valved Bilsteins from A.R.E or Other?
I've driven Guy's tuned Bilsteins and I own a set of his 8300's which I've won multiple national SCCA autocross events with. I also daily drive my S2000 with these same penskes for more than 90k miles now. The Bilsteins handle just as well and is a known quantity. You will not be disappointed at all. I would highly suggest picking up some 8300's if you are willing to wait and save for. They works tons better than anything else available in the market off the shelf.
I'm very pleased with my Ohlins DFVs. I'm able to use a faster line over curbs that unsettle most cars without unsettling my car. And the single adjustment makes them super easy for me (someone that knows very little about setting up a car) to adjust.
Are you going to sell your wing? $$ for Ohlins.

I looked into him, too. I agree with his approach to setup (pick ride frequencies and everything else revolves around that) but I had heard he didn't have the S2000 as nailed as the Miata. Of course, almost no one in the S2000 crowd sets up their cars according to ride frequencies, which is baffling to me. The Miata crowd really like him.

Of course, it is worth noting that much of the R&D on these cars has been for auto-x, where there are different setup priorities than road courses. There's at least a handful of folks on R&C preparing to do some custom-valved Bilstein/Ohlins/Penske setups, so we should get another good round of info in the coming year as we hear what they directions they go and how they work out.

The thread is about track and street, who said what about auto-x? The suspension geometry in this car is what throws the formula off. With 2 more track options for me this fall, one of my cars will focus primarily on track. Anyways, I will be interested to hear your findings/results. I used mostly 3rd and 4th gear speeds on my private testing area to work with stability/sharp hadling balance with my cars and tried tons of combinations of grip (tires)/springs/bars/shocks/ride height/alignments/etc. I'm happy with my current setups, but it definitely goes against the norm.
