Ohlins , KW , CR/swift, pss9.... service
My car is a track only car. My main goal with it is to just have fun and enjoy driving. I do not mind spending money on it and want to improve with quality suspension, but how often do Ohlins and KW really need to be serviced. Is it accurate when it says after 20 hours of use? Can you please let me know what you have and how the service interval is?

what i was trying to get at but not very clear was say after 20k track miles will something more simple like oem cr shocks hold up better then these more complex suspensions. i understand everything degrades from use but after 20k track miles will all these shocks be shot? right now im on oem suspension (3 track years) and holding up fine to me.

Yes you can change the oil yourself > after 50kms - 27000 miles
If you are a suspension Technician with the correct tooling to strip and rebuild to correct spec ,you can rebuild to like new performance

Hard to say. I don't think they would be "shot" but probably not the same dampening curve as a fresh set. But could a slow driver even tell? My guess is not. I think the OEM dampener shelf life for a street driven car is 100k, so I'd think the OEM would survive maybe 1/3rd of that if only driven on track. Basically OEM's are driven until they leak. I wouldn't recommend doing that on a Ohlins but you probably could. Either way you can rebuild the Ohlins it just comes down to when you rebuild it and are you noticing something wrong with your suspension. Another point is if you drive on track you probably don't want to risk an accident because your shock blows out at some unfavorable time causing an accident or something.

This is what I got from Ohlins USA when I emailed them about a rebuild:
While 20k is the recommended service interval, customers in drier climates (such as San Diego) tend to get much more life out of their dampers than people driving in harsher climates…like Sweden. CA residents that aren’t tracking the car can usually go 30-40k miles before the oil is cooked, but it all depends on the driving variables. If you notice a drop in their performance, then it’s likely time to get them serviced.
We charge about $1000 for all 4 corners, parts included, for a service. We also have a west coast service center at the Sonoma Raceway that can work on the dampers too. Please contact them here: http://performanceshock.com/index.php?main_page=index
