Default Ordered KW v3 set.now looking for wheels

I am a bit confused by offset and tire size for wheels. I am looking at some wheels that are 17X9 with 62mm offset. I would like to run square with 245 40 17 tires. Will this work? Are the tires too narrow for the wheel? Will it rub on the front? (looking at Hoosier A6 245 40 17)

The Tire Rack website shows 255 on the front and 245 rear...must be a misprint!!! It also says 255 40 17 all the way around on another page...???

Wheel Link

Thanks in advance,

Jim

You can run 245/40 17 on 17X9 +62 all around with no fender modification and no rubbing.

If you go to 255/40 17 on the front you will either have to roll your fenders or go to rock hard springs to keep from rubbing.

question - why jump into an A6 if you are already changing up two variables on the car? (suspension and non-staggered)?

but more to the point, a 17x9 +62 should clear with a normal 245. I'm not sure how much wider the 245 A6s run than a street 245 (if at all).

A6 will be much wider than street tire.

I have ran 225 Hoosiers on a different car for years and they are at least as wide as most other 245's.

I would look into it before buying.

I don't understand your question. I run RE-11s on the street (and for track days) They are 215 front 245 rear. I am looking to buy wheels and R compound tires for track days. Are you saying that the Hoosiers are wider than their size specification?

According to the specs listed by Tire Rack, there is not a significant difference in the size of 245 A6s compared to other 245 tires commonly used on the S2000 i.e. RS3 or Z1 StarSpec.

Thanks for the info. I must admit it is frustrating searching for wheels for the S. Even when you search by vehicle, the results include wheels with too low an offset. What is the deal with that? I guess the S has uncommonly high offsets.

^I wouldn't say uncommonly high as annoyingly high. That's just me though. I wish we could fit more stuff in the +30-40 range and that's not to be all hellaflush or anything but there is just a lot available already in that range. Most 17x9 wheels are produced in something very close to +35.
