Yes, he does. It's not uncommon to tow a small trailer to the track with spare wheels/tires, jacks, tools and other spares. Short of piling them into the interior without the passenger seat (the way I've been doing it ) there's no other way to get that stuff to the events.

Sears was a valuable learning experience. I'm glad I made it even tho I rolled into the hotel at 3:30AM.

My differential was a complete disaster. It was so badly set up that the noise it made could only be likened to a siren inside the car. I had to stop in Burbank to buy earplugs at Target to make the trip even tolerable. Even with earplugs it was nasty.

Once at the track on Saturday morning I drained the Mobil 1 75W90 I had in it and put some Red Line heavy shockproof in. It didn't help. We were only able to run about half the day before it started spitting oil out of the pinion oil seal. We ran a couple of laps on Sunday to check some suspension setting changes but all in all I didn't want to risk destroying it.

On the way back from the track i followed Rylan to Santa Clara where he dropped off his car and we put mine on his trailer for the rest of the trip to Santa Cruz.

Monday morning I drove to davepk's house and we swapped my diff for his so I could get home. He dropped off my diff at a rearend shop for repair. They replaced the oil seal and redid the setup. The work was completed on Wend and dave picked it up and will bring it with him to Vegas. We'll do the swap again on Saturday morning I guess.

All in all it was a very enlightening weekend. We made many changes to the suspension and came up with some radically new alignment settings. We felt I was under sprung so I have some new springs arriving today. I have an appointment to get the alignment and corner balance done tomorrow morning. The alignment place has been very patient and accommodating to my schedule which has been topsy turvy.

Everything is coming together but there is always the last minute crunch. We will be ready.

Wow! And I thought I had things going down to the last minute. Sorry to hear about the problems. That's a lot to happen in the last week. I hope to get my car cornerbalanced tonight, then aligned tomorrow (night?), so probably won't make it to Vegas till Sat around noon.

I hope your car gets all sorted out before Sunday. Mine hasn't seen the track, barely the street, since my changes, but nothing radical was done so I am hoping there won't be any problems worse than wheel rubbing. Biggest problem I anticipate will be getting used to the car which should feel very different, and tuning the suspension, wing setting etc.. My co-driver Todd doesn't plan to arrive till early Sun morning with much of the support stuff, so I hope he makes it!

And we have to keep chanting......no rain...no rain...no rain...no rain...no rain...no rain...no rain...no rain...no rain...no rain...no rain...no rain...no rain...no rain...no rain...no rain...no rain...no rain...no rain...no rain...no rain...no rain...

It's only 20% chance because I've been chanting.

More worried about Thill and Sears (esp. because of walls )

Yeah, it says 20% chance almost everyday. I can tell you though, that it hasn't rained here in 2 weeks. Don't make it chant now.

Finally all ready and will be leaving at 5:30 a.m. for Vegas. Only problems now are one driver has a reinjured back and the other an injured big toe, both happened today. We won't feel it once we are on the track though. Hope some of you can make it out to the tracks this week.
