There's been a lot of talk about this crash and video here and the owner/driver would rather they not be seen. I've got a question about the pictures. Were the tires installed backwards? Looks like it to me.
Well, I am assuming that since hte owner does not want it to be seen, they are still alive. I hope this is the case.
As for them not wanting it to be seen, I think that is a mistake. Other people should learn from the mistake he made. Might save someones life in the future.
BTW, I got the video to work.....
It does look like the tires are on backwards, but on dry pavement, I don't think it should matter.

on dry pavement, tires that are mounted backwards will drive differently. they will drive "choppy" as if they are WAY off balance/never been balanced before.
very good observation CG - something I think we all missed.

Yeah, kind of hard to tell. He definitely was on the binders mid-corner. My comment on full-on ABS was based on a guess that the driver probably panicked on got on the brakes hard enough to go ABS.
Either way, S2000s are not particularly stable under trail braking (probably b/c of their low polar moment of inertia, short wheelbase, stiff rear end, and particular rear suspension geomtry).

I saw an S2K hit a wall at the Streets of Willow event right in front of my eyes. This was a SpeedTrialUSA a few months back. The guy came out of the last turn leading on to the front straightaway, put the car in a drift but kept his foot down on gas more than necessary and the next thing I knew was the car heading towards the pit wall where I myself and lots of other people were standing. Moments later there was a wrecked S2K in front of our eyes, it was sad to see a shiny new car sitting on top of its own broken suspension parts.
Oh well...such is life of a sports car.
