Default which pads to use?

Still fairly new to tracking the car. Finishing up 2nd season. I have been using hawk HP plus and feel I'm ready to step up to something more aggressive and be able to handle heat better.

I know a lot recommend the carbotechs, but I'm not sure if these will be slightly to aggressive for me or not, if there is such a thing. I'm also aware there are many other brands/compounds to choose from so hopefully you guys can help me determine what I should step up to. Without wasting any extra money.

Car sees mainly just track time. Rarely street driven except to track and shop. Car is a stock 01' besides brakes, z2 tires and alignment setup. I'm also in the process of adding front brake ducting to the car.

Do i need to stagger compounds from front to rear? pending pad brand.

Sorry for repeat topic ahead of time.

Add extra information:

Tire size front and rear?

Tracks that you frequent most (different tracks have very different braking / cooling zones which dictates how aggressive of a pad you need).

Hawk DTC-60 and/or HT-10

Carbotech XP 10 and/or 8 would also work.

You could even do an XP 12/10. XP 20 is probably overkill.

Same with DTC-70s on street tires.

I use Cobalt XR2 front and XR5 rear, for advanced HPDE, and now TT. It's the same combo I started on, 1.5 years ago. Like all track pads, they need a little heat to optomize performance. I've been very happy, but am considering upgrading to XR1/XR3 combo

If you like the paint on your wheels, make sure to clean them after each weekend. Most pads in this category wil have relatively corrosive dust

With 255 square I run hawk dtc 70 front and hps in the rear to keep the brake bias down. Don't seem to have any problems with the setup just break rotors a lot which pretty much depends how hard on the brakes u r

I'm still on stock ap1 tire sizes 205/225. I know that's not optimal but extra funds are going towards other items and not wheels currently. Main tracks I see are summit point circuits. Hopefully next season though I plan on getting to vir and njmp.

Everybody seems to like the carbotech xp10/8 combo. Might just try that and see how it goes.

Another concern is messing up the brake bias. I don't want to have It nosediving or the rear end locking up on me.

Do the hawk DTC 60 need a diff. Rear pad to balance?

I wouldn't say I'm a hard driver on the brakes. Though I do believe I was over working the HP plus pads which is why I think I need to upgrade.

I was on XP10 / XP8 combo - they were awesome when I was getting up to speed with the s2000. Eventually, I was able to fade them and they were only lasting like 3 or 4 track days so it was getting a little pricey to continue using them. Also, just before I ducted and switched to my current setup, I was cracking rotors left and right and rebuilding calibers constantly. Tire setup 215/245 RS3

Now I'm ducted and running Project Mu Club Racers front, XP8 rear. Front rotors are also project mu club racer rotors and rears are centric blanks. So far with this setup, no fade and the wear is pretty damn good. Tire setups 215/245 RS3 & 225/255 RS3. While the project mu club racer doesn't fade on me, it felt subjectively vague or dead as compared to the xp10/xp8 combo

I use DTC60 front and HT10 rear and the balance is good. I am going to try the DTC70 in front next time though because I am still fading the fronts after 5 laps.

You will crack rotors (any rotor from cheap blanks to epic expensive 2-piece rotors) with other brake pads too. It's not the brake pad.
