Default PGM-FI is it needed?

I am an building a track only car. The original fuel tank has been removed and an ATL fuel cell installed with an internal fuel pump. The ECU has been replaced with a Haltech PnP unit. I am in the process of reinstalling the wiring and an wondering if the PGM-FI system is even needed. I can just power the fuel pump directly (through a switch) and eliminate all the PGM system with the relay (a potential source of a failure). Just wondering of the PGM-FI system does anything critical that I am missing the point of? Any suggestions or ideas? Joe

I always thought off the pgmfi system just being the whole fuel injection system (programmable multipoint fuel injection)

I do t think I'm understanding your post clearly as to what components you want to remove.

You want to keep the tps map all sensors needed to run it but remove the main fuel pump and ecu relay is that what you mean by chance?

Yes, I am looking to remove the fuel pump relay (PGM-FI relay), but all other engine sensors will still be in place. Does the PGM-FI relay do anything but turn the fuel pump on and off? The ECU should be controlling the injectors, not the relay. I may be all wrong with this, which is why I am posing these questions. Joe

the main relay controls power to the ecu and the fuel pump.

I'm not seeing what there is to gain by removing it, the stock setup is simple enough.

I was looking at the wiring diagrams again and noticed that the intake air control is also routed thru the PGM relay. I think I will leave it all alone. Thanks. Joe

I am in the middle of rewiring the engine harness and rest of the car as well.
Has anyone decided to remove this and just run the switch to the pump and ecu?

I noticed on the ecu there is a pin for fuel pump relay so I was just going to run that to a relay for my bosch 044

is the relay also supposed to turn on the ecu? or injectors? I plan on having the ecu hooked up by switch.
