Default Planning my setup - help

I like to attend 2-3 track days a yr and i do a fair amount of auto-x, 5-10 events a yr and am looking at finally getting around to new suspension for my s2k.

Tire - A032R - H

rim - TBD but working on sw388s

Suspension:

I daily drive, but since i work from home i dont have to do long commutes, more just for pleasure so i dont need overall comfort.

looking at:

Bilstein PSS9
KWV2/3
JIC 2
T1R B Max
Spoon fixed

I am looking for something fairly aggresive...likely in the 6-10k from spring rates. PSS9 were leading the way, but i would have to swap springs from the sounds of it.

thoughts?

thanks in advance...

Do you plan on being competative in autocross? What class do you think you'd be running? Remember that any coil over system is going to kick you out of stock class.

im not to the point where i am overly competitive...but i am usually top 10. I dont mind running SS since i already have an intake.

more just something fairly aggressive.

i had progress coilovers on my dc5 and it was around 450lbs those spring rates were on the soft side.

sounds like you should spend the money on you then and not the car.

Given that the question was asked here in the R&C forum, I'd have to agree. If you actually want to go faster, that's going to be the answer at this point.

Actual mechanical setup questions here are best answered in respect to building the car to a spec. If you don't have a particular racing series or spec in mind, but just "fairly aggresive" or a fun driving experience, you might try the JDM forum or the like for people's opinions.

i have worked on me...always more to learn, but ive done 2 race schools (mission/race city), multiple track days (PIR, mission, race city), and have been auto-x'ing for 5 yrs now.

Im confident in my abilities, but being used to a fully prepped and weighted RSX suspension setup, i feel the s2k is laggin behind and i want to begin its prep.

I'm still not sure what you are trying to prep it for. I don't believe there is a "right" answer for the S2000 (at least not a reasonable price ) .

Can you say what is "wrong" with the car (like what is making you think something needs to change)? Maybe if you can diagnose some of the problems the guys with experience with different suspension setups could make a informed suggestion as to what will help it.

"mmhmm" in regards to my "laggin" probably...but honestly...my rsx had a sever power issue, but handling was dialed in to be more predictable and honestly better than stock s2k.

I know a FR 50/50 compared to a FF 68-32 is hard to think about, but s2k's are not god people. THey are amazing stock, but there is plenty of room suspension wise to grow.

I don't know how Canadian classing works, but those mods would move you up to B Street Prepared in the States, while still resulting in a car slower than a fully prepped A Stock S2000 (due to your choice of non-hardcore R-compound rubber).

I'd save the money and buy some V710s or A6s.

P.S. - To elaborate on what the others are saying: so far you've said "what parts should I throw at my car?" instead of "how do I fix handling problem xxxx on my car?" The right answer to the former question is that you should send your money to me instead. The latter question hasn't been asked yet.
