Yup to both. I could have bought a 997.2 GT3 for the money, lol. Nobody said that building an SSM car was a smart thing.

After watching a GT3 break a diff launching at Toledo this weekend, there really isn't any car that's safe from the beatings of motorsport. So you pick your poison. We go back and forth about parting out the car vs. continuing to build it. But at the end of the day, it's all just for fun.

J37 engine used is $3500 or so. New ~$5500 or so. Replacement for a Porsche engine ~$30,000 or so....

I will be putting lots of info here...

Simply put, I'm aiming for 2500lbs and a quick spooling 400whp at low boost and the ability to rev 9500rpms. The v6 sounds cool, but reliability and useable power is also necessary. The 2.2 can make the needed power and some, but we need it slightly sooner. That is what my build is focused on. Carter was putting down great times before he made the power and one of our local guys built it. Now he is 400whp and 2540lbs. He still has some lag though. A properly built and well driven 300whp s2k would be fast and hard to beat. Eriks car was much heavier fyi. Starting with such a cheap s2k and having the suspension figured out is a big start. The STR adventure really helped me find the proper balance I want in the car. Having driven some FI S2000s helped me realize the car's biggest challenge is putting the power down. The turbo cars had lag and the SOS stg 2 car had no ability to use the power. Charles, I would love to drive that car of yours one day to get some insight.

Maybe if either Marc or Robert were interested, we could arrange a Milwaukee event sometime or I could do my usual Texas Winter event.

I also wonder how much gearing selection could mitigate some of the spool issue. The two schools of thought are either longer first and second gear (either aftermarket or changing final drive) or just use 2nd and 3rd. With a turbo, sub-3500 can be kind of a lag zone. With more use of "lower" gear, maybe wouldn't need as much requirement for smaller turbo or larger engine.

I think the ultimate killer combination would be a Quaife sequential with paddle actuators and electronic rev-matching....

Mine is in and working, but not making much power (I'd be making more power with a stock K24) due to engine build mistakes. It's not turbo car quick but it is a night and day difference for autocross because with the cam advance it makes pretty good tq out of vtec. It's different to drive you no longer wait for Vtec. After driving Chi's Turbo S2000 in autox I think the big issues is getting it to put the power down and not just drift.

Sticky tires are a must. It's pretty miserable to drive in low grip and street tire conditions.

That's how I felt about Chi's car... I wanted to throw sand bags in the trunk
