Anyone have any suggestions on Racing Schools? I'm thinking of indulging a dream and taking one of the 3 or 4 days courses from one of the following:

Skip Barber (probably at Laguna Seca)
Jim Russell (Sears Point)
Bob Bondurant (Phoenix).

Im specifically looking for people that have taken courses from one or more of these schools.

After the courses? Who knows Get my USAC and SCCA licenses if it goes nowhere else, itd be fun, but Ive had tenative plans to do One Lap of America with an friend for a few years, and now ive got the means and the car (the S2000). So 2002 or 2003 OLoA will hopefully have an S2000 competeting in Sports/GT cars under $35,000.

I went to Skippy's school. And it was fun.
I can't say as it was overly helpful because I had been doing autox and time trials for 5 year prior. But I needed two schools to get an SCCA regional license. I did learn how to drive a formula car around Riverside that tells you how long ago it was.

I highly recommned the Elf Winfield school. It costs about the same as the others but the cars have wings and slicks. This and the Russell school in the UK are generally regarded as the best racing schools in the world.

The school is in France, but exchange rates being what they are it's a tremendous bargain.

If you're set on attending a school in the states, then I'd suggest either the Russell or Bondurant schools. Neither are as good as the Russell school in the UK or the Elf Winfield school at Paul Ricard, but they have a much better reputation than the Barber schools.

I have done Bondurant (four-day Grand Prix, Advance Racing), Skip (three-day racing course, lapping, car control clinics) and Bridgestone (Canada, four day racing course).

If you don't have experience or very little go with Bondurant. Skip is also Ok if you are already have done some racing but I really like the course method at Bondurant for beginners.

I do agree that Elf in France is probably the best and it's in my future plans to go there.

Have more questions? drop me a note.
