Where's the third Stooge? How come he never posts anymore?
Last I saw him, he was walking on the beach with Reverend.

Guess the air adhere's to the gentle slope on the back of the Porsche to create all that lift.

I wonder if that S2000 hardtop that goes all the way to the back of the trunklid creates a similar problem...

[quote name='msm_s2k' date='Feb 12 2005, 11:03 AM'] After riding in a few winged S2000s at the track, I'm most likely going to add one to my car. I'm thinking about the APR GTC-200. Wing dimensions:
- Deck length (A): 59.5"
- Deck height (B): 10"
- Pedestal distance

Be careful trying to mount it too far backward. Because of the way our trunks are designed (on the underside) it can be very difficult to find a good spot for the holes if you back up too much. Mine's about as far back as it can get, and I had to be kind of "creative" on the underside to get it safely mounted. The trunk still shows signs of buckling. I'm going to steal Richard's idea about the spray in foam.
My APR wing showed up today with the UPS driver. The spare lid should be here in a few days.

Does anyone have some tips on mounting this thing? I assume, measure, mark and drill?

Maybe some close ups of the trunk lid and mounting points?

Did you have to run longer bolts though the trunk lid to accommodate the ridges in the underside?

I'm JEALOUS! Post pics of install process and of course the car once the wing is on.

I used the standard length bolts but cut "windows" in the boxed areas, top and side surfaces, using a Dremel, to get the washers and nuts on.

Thanks,

I was wondering if the channel filled with foam and a long bolt and large washer would be stronger? vs using only the lid as the mount point.

Kind of like a honeycomb structure?

Me and Dremels ..luckily this is a spare trunk lid

Possibly. I tend to do things the hard way the first time around . You could try your way first and if it doesn't work well, try my way. But I wouldn't inject the foam until you are fairly sure you want to leave it the way it is. That stuff would be a pain to get out cleanly, though doable. The foam is not strong in itself, but overall adds stiffness to the lid.
