4/32 is not a shaved for race RA1 buddy. A shaved RA1 is probably 1/32nd and at most 1/16th.
No one mentioned 'for race'. It was never stated what the tires were used for before DongTran purchased them with the wheels.

If you don't know, don't guess what an appropriate shaving might be.

Some shave at 6/32nds, some at 4/32nds, some at 2/32nds.
Depends on if they were rain tires, for street/track use, dedicated track use etc.

It's likely, from the amount of tread on the inside, that they were probably flipped once already.

some people run 3.5 to 4 degrees negative camber. Really only he would know how he wears tires out. If he wears out the edge more then definitely flip them but I would guess that's not the case.
and still wear the outside at that much camber.

So he never said they were shaved in his add? If he didn't say they were shaved then that's completely wrong.

You can't just advertise that tire as having 50% tread left.

If that's the case the guy is a complete crook.

Thanks for the feedback, all. SOS isn't really doing much about it. They ARE willing to take the wheel/tire combo back, however will not refund me the original shipping $ as well as me having to ship the wheels back on my dime. Blah.

Edit: they are also willing to take back JUST the tires and credit me $200. It's going to cost me like $150 just to get them dismounted and shipped back to them. Where's the customer incentives?

Do them how they did you. Run the tires till they're done and sell them back to them for 200 although might not be worth the shipping.

If you paid by credit card copy the add with the 50% tread left and take pictures of the tires with date stamp on the pic and call your credit card company to dispute the charge. I'm sure SOS will comply when they get a call from your credit card co.

This is a race tire. They do not have treads as deep as street tires.

Looks like lots of life on those things. They are just expensive rain tires until they start to look like that anyways. You should be grateful that you dont have to pay for them to be shaved. Thats a total hassle.
