Rebuilding a Transmission
Maybe this should be in "under the hood", and I'm fine if someone decides to move it.
90k Miles, 45 of which have included heavy autocross use, have seemed to finally start taking a toll on my transmission. The shifting into second is just a bit less smooth than past years, and has recently resulting in a few missed engagements... and consequently some nasty grindage shifting to 2nd.
I think the shifting is kinda notchy going into most gears, but all I really care about is 1st and 2nd for autocross. Does anyone know if it would be more cost effective to rebuild the trans (doing the work myself, and using parts from Majestic), or simply pick up a used trans?
Also, what typically goes with a worn out transmission + some bad 1>2 shifts? Syncos and 2 gears maybe? or would it be the whole countershaft ($$$) or something?

It pays 8.1 hours. So honda would charge you about $700-800 just in labor, If you have a hook up then you could prolly get it done for $300 labor plus parts (I didn't look up how much they are). You can get a used low mile trans for $500-700 and do the install on jack stands in your driveway. Either way you'll be spending $500-700

edit- heres one for $400.

if you can do the work yourself then rebuild it.
you will need the 2nd gear set with the slider

I'd tear it down and inspect everything before i bought any parts. You may want to replace the 3rd gear syncro while your at it.
Use ap2 parts, they are interchangeable and better and cheaper
