Default Recommendations of Brakes to get

I need some recommendations on brakes. I daily drive my car, the oem's work great and i am pleased. I am looking to go to some track days here in the near future (at least Fall Colors up at Beaverun) I've been seeing alot of guys have a set of pads for DD and a set for Track. Is there a good pad in between that will give me plenty of stopping power for DD and when I go to the track have a pad the performs well, can with stand the strain and heat, etc. If I should get pads for just track I guess I will and stick to the OEM's for DD, since like I said they do fine for me.

So far I have like the Porterfield r4s and i see alot of about cobalts and + and - on the carbotech's. All recommendations welcomed. Many thanks before hand

There are brakes that sort of work for both. Don't waste your time and money, though. Just get full-up track brakes and swap with regular street brakes.

I'd recommend separate full race pads unless you like noisy/dusty pads for the street and non-optimal performance for the track. Swap them in for track days. More important, replace your OEM fluid with a racefluid (this works fine for street also).

Which track brakes to use are a matter of personal preference. I've had pretty good luck with Carbotech Panther+.

I've not been swapping rotors out, but I think I'm going to start. My last set I had some issues with never quite being able to bed them in on either the street or the track. This is only the front rotors I'm talking about.

I like Cobalt Spec VR's front. For rears I like Hawk Blues, but plan to try the Cobalt Spec VX's that should be a good match for the VR's up front. I find the Spec C's rear leave deposits on the rotors, leading to grooves.

The Spec Cs are less than optimal for the rear if un-ducted. The heatrange of the VX's is much much better.

Cracker: While there are some compromise pads out there, they're just that: Compromises. I'd suggest a good fluid (Motul, Ate) and Cobalt race pads. Swap the pads for the track, use OEM pads on the street.

I have no problem with the Go-Fast Lab, and I buy stuff from you myself. But I do wish you guys would mention that you have a business connection if you make a recommendation for a product you sell. It's well-known to those of us who have been around here for a while, but maybe not obvious to a newcomer.
