Now these last couple are saying Carbo tech do they dust more than Cobalts either way do they stop better or respond better on oem rotors than others?

Like I said, it's mainly a matter of personal preference.

Track brakes are ALL going to dust.

1) quiet
2) stops well cold
3) stops well hot
4) low dust
5) easy to modulate
6) cheap

Pick 2. Maybe 3 if you are lucky. And then you can still find several choices that make more subtle tradeoffs.

I run cobalts on the street : GT-s Sports. I have only used carbotech on the track, but am changing to cobalts, not because I didn't like the carbotech, I just want to try some new pads. Putting in a decent track brake fluid combined with some decent track pads is enough "mods" for track events if your car is mostly a street car.

for 90% street use, are OEM brakes the best bang for the buck. I was very satisfied with their performance, and minimal brake dust. I was wondering if there are aftermarket pads that have a the same performance and wear for less money than OEM?

Im fairly new to the track thing like you CrazyCracker. My first event down at shanadoah circuit at summit point I used stock pads and just changed my fluid to ATE super blue, it worked for me. Then I ended up changing my pads for my next event at Beaverun to the Porterfield RS4s. I currently use these on the street (I dont drive the S on the street too much) and they are very noisy. I also had brake problems at beaver run... lots of braking at that track. Im deffinatly going to change my pads before FC... i want to try something more aggresive. You will be alright driving up there on race pads though... you are on a highway the entire way, like me. 70- turnpike, and the track is right there. BTW, let me know if you need help changing your pads or your fluid out, I got a nice garage and a speed bleeder in Hagerstown your more than welcome to use.

Brakes have to work 100% of the time. 90% doesn't cut it.

OEM are probably the best value on the street. You'll destroy them on the track, though, even if that's only 10% of your use. Best to swap them out and use them 100% on the street.

I've been lazy the last couple weeks and am running my Panther+ on the street (didn't bother to change out after my last track day). They dust like crazy, squeek when I stop, and squeek when I just drive down the street, but they do stop the car nicely.
