anyone have an answer or guess?

and i'm assuming you can generate the same amount of downforce with canards that you can with a splitter right? ( obviously lots of variables, but lets just assume a general statement, ie is it possible ).

I highly doubt it, there's just not enough surface area on the canards to make the two comparable.

thanks.

i was doing some more research on here and it looks like a lot of members are saying they are used for slightly different reasons. the canards primary reason being vortex generators to direct air to the outsides of the car.

also found that canards require some very precise mounting.

Another good shot
Non sequitur but I don't understand the purpose of this vertical mount in this picture. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the purpose of a vertical mount setup is to distribute flow to both the radiator and the intercooler. Hence, shouldn't he have the radiator on the bottom and the intercooler on the top like so: < ? Otherwise, you'd just be reducing flow to both and the only benefit I can see is improved flow throughout the engine bay?

i would say:
cr front bumper + splitter + canards will generate you max downforce u ever wanted!
however, to run this setup you need at least a voltex wing!
and you can also determine how much downforce u want though how far out the splitter is =) (fyi mine is 3" lip)

Depending on what other work they did for it, I'm going to guess they've ducted the air though the radiator at that angle so the air exits at a straight path from the radiator to the hood vents?

Other than that, I have no idea.

yeah i've seen that about 3''/75mm or so gives you most of the benefits of the splitter without having to stick it out too far.

i might raise the front of the car up 1/4'' or so and go that route.

Before these guys (BC racing) turboed the c-west car, it still had a angled mount radiator(with no intercooler).

The purpose then was because they fed their ITBs from the left side of the car and needed to fit a taller/narrower radiator under the low hood of the S.

Plus others have pointed out that having the radi at an angle slows the air speed and provides more cooling (most open wheel have angled radiators).

Not to mention that the C-west hood is fully ducted to remove air from the Rad.

That said...
Once the GReddy turbo was installed, I'm sure that all changed.
But they might have kept the modified angled rad and just added the IC in front...

here is a link to pictures of the pre-turbo set up with the angled rad.
