Its funny there's a used car dealer in Burbank that has at least 30/40 Miata's on thier lot for sale. I think its all they sell. Maybe I should re-think this.

What about something radically different, like a high mileage 92

miata
240(wouldn't recommend unless you are in for the mark ups)
dsm
even a fox body if you can see pass the domestic thing

if you think miata is a girl car, think again. I don't really recall not seeing a miata in any track event, ever (almost, but yeah, you see them at track all the time)

even with stock lsd and drivetrain, they only need suspension to be relatively fast.

s14 for roadrace and drift. easy to make power even with the KA24de and you can drop in the venerable SR20.

Maita is a good choice if you can ever get the fact that its a car that was voted #1 car for a homosexual.... the car handles great. lightweight and can be turboed or SC.

As everyone else has recommended... Miata.

Get over your insecurities regarding the car and I guarantee you'll have a blast throwing around a lightweight roadster through the corners. Fun to drive, reliable, CHEAP parts. Keep in mind that for a track car, you'll need to factor in high wear items into your budget (tires, pads, rotors).
