Unfortunately that's pretty much how all of racing is.. except for maybe 24hours of Lemons...

top level National SCCA, even Auto X... takes bucks.. even "Stock" classes..

Karting? You want to win, you're dumping BANK into the kart, engine, tires, practice, etc..

Being competitive in Enthusiast Class is about as inexpensive as it comes, unless you're comparing TA to something like a handicapped race series, where you can run a 100% stock vehicle and by way of a weighted system, you stand a chance of doing well, assuming you have the driving talent.

Time Attack, not just RTA, is about modifying cars.. it's what the sport was created for, as a way to showcase aftermarket parts and tuners in Japan.

We realize it is not for everyone, and we're okay with that.
What's nice is when you can build one car and run competitively with multiple organizations. Unfortunately for RTA just about every racing organization limits cars for hp via the rule book. So just about everything legal to race in any other series is pretty outgunned in RTA. I find it funny that my Showroom Stock C car would run in Unlimited at RTA. What's even funnier is it coulda won Unlimited at sebring despite being Bone stock with a cage and hoosiers. NASA is nice because they have a class for everything and anything..... downside is they have a class for everything and anything so you end up with a lot of unpopulated classes. But it is nice that you can pull an SCCA car over and run it in some sort of PT, GTS or ST class with NASA. Also Some SCCA enduro's allow cars from PCA, BMWCCA, NASA and Grand-am. Grand-am cars are running in SCCA World Challenge now. As the economy tightens the more cross-over classing the better.

Look for an announcement later today, as well as a more detailed announcement next Friday, and of course our "community meeting" at Spring Mountain, Saturday, September 18th @ 5:30pm.

All with regard to how we will continue to provide an outlet for amateur grassroots time attack competitors, across all four of our existing classes, under the existing rule set.
