Default Removing brake dust

What do you guys do to remove the brake dust off the wheels without damaging the finish of the wheel?

I'm using 949 sliver wheels and they are covered in cobalt xr-3, xr-4 brake dust.

Thanks!

After a track day I immediately use simple green and water to clean the wheels. Seem to work really well. Haven't seen any damage on my CE28N yet.

Cobalt pads will ruin wheels no matter what you do. If you care about your wheels run Carbotech pads.

sonax full effect wheel cleaner with a brush is the best. clean your wheels as soon as you get home to get rid of that cobalt dust.

Definitely sonax and a brush. Though don't believe their claim about it washing off without the brush. At least with hp+ pads.

I'll order some of that and try it. Mine look like crap! It's as if the pad dust cooked on the wheels. I'll take a picture when I leave work.

Sonax is more of an upkeep wheel cleaner that takes care of the daily grind stuff. If any of the brake dust is baked on it will not remove it.

I disagree... My XR2s have not damaged my wheels at all. I do pull my wheels off and wash them within a few days of getting home from the track though.

To the OP, Try using undiluted simple green and a non abrasive pad

^^ Same here.
Never had issues running XR1/2s although I have read that getting them wet then heated (rainy track day) causes staining issues.
I do always wash my rims though before the next track day.
