Default Removing carpet on drivers side

Any ideas??

I was thinking about laying down a 10"x14" section of grip tape below the pedals, where my heels would generally rest on the floorpan.. I was also thinking about doing a 10"x14" section of some of that Plasti-Dip stuff, that I would just paint on, and mask off around it, do it in like 4-5 thin coats, so it doesn't have a thick edge around it or what not..

I dunno, just can't seem to do the carpet anymore, it wears through every couple of months, and I can't seem to even bother with floormats anymore.. that's all just a waste of money! haha.. So, I'm looking to give the drivers-side a little more of a race-inspired look/feeling.. I don't think I would be able to do bare metal either, just too slippery if it got wet... I know, regardless, carpet would be the best choice, because it still holds some grip even while wet, versus grip tape, or Plasti-Dip coating....

Any ideas gents?? Pics would help also!!

(Oh, and I plan on posting before and after pictures once you guys help me decide on what to do...)

I'd appreciate any/all help!!!

Thanks!

Just buy floormats and be done. I have a hard time believing that you're wearing through the carpet in a few months. What kind of shoes are you wearing? Cleats?

BTW... is this really appropriate for the R&C forum?

Yes, it's appropriate.. because this is my track car.
And yes, I wear through floormats extremely often, and my carpet has a permanent 9-10" hole, where even the grey undercoating on the floorpan has been worn down to bare metal.. (will post pics later today)

You must be doing something wrong. My 95 Accord has 209K miles on it and the floormats are still in good shape. I'd recommend that you figure out why you wear through the floormats so quickly so you can stop doing that.

Because, I'm 6'5", with a size 15 shoe... I visit the Dragon once every two-three weeks, plus I constantly autocross, and track my car. lol. Oh, and did I mention my track car, is also my DD?

It happens.. A bunch of the local members have said the same thing too, like.. WTF are you going through your floormats so quickly for??

But, anyways.. Enough of the trouble shooting, I'm done with the carpet/floormat drama. This thread, is to get others' opinions on what to put in place of the factory carpet... Yes, primarily, this will be for race purposes.. I'm looking into buying a new Evo X for a DD, so my S2000 will turn into my dedicated track car.

Thanks for your guys' input so far I guess..? lol

Most track cars that I've seen just have bare paint left behind. If you need something w/ grip, I'd assume there'd be a way to spray/roll in some paint w/ some low-grit sand.
