AIM RS2 takes the best sector splits from all the laps in a session and adds them to arrive at that theoretical lap time.
I think this is misleading and in fact impossible to attain because of the following;
Lets take Chris's data as an example;
You have 14 splits/segments/sectors dividing the track and it looks like 22 or so laps to pull the best time for each sector from.
The time you do in any given sector is going to be completely depended on the run you get (entry speed) coming into it from the previous sector.
Therefore the if you didn't have the greatest line to carry lots of speed for the best sector 3 time but your line did allowed you to enter sector 4 significantly faster than if you had the optimum time through 3, your sector 4 time would be great and 3 not so good in a particular lap.
If you do this for all the sectors through the 22 laps you get a great but impossible composite theoretical lap time.
The 1:48 time could also be the result of data using a lap or sector at the beginning or end of a session where one lap or sector was timed very short for one reason or another etc..

Essentially, there are sections of the track that you "sacrifice" since they aren't as crucial to turning a good lap time overall. however, if you don't sacrifice that sector and go through it as fast as possible - thus screwing setup for the next section, you now have an awesome theoretical time.
I think a really good example of this that people do for a fast lap is at SOWS running CW. at the end of a lap you sacrifice your current lap and run super wide into the skid pad so you have a really good run and high top speed for the front straight for your next lap - then at the end of that lap, you run the best line possible through the skid pad to give you a good overall lap time, but lower top speed at the end of that front straight.
Still, 1:48 from a bunch of sectors done like that still seems a bit extreme - we're talking open wheel racecar times now.
I kinda laughed a little. That's not sacrificing sector time for gain, that's cheating.

Sounds like Strategy to me

Did i just give away my strategy for the next event??
Uhhhhmmmm, just kidding... that doesn't really work... right...
okay I see that the Dec 1st event is CCW.... So I should think about running this Saturday which is also CCW. I have never run there before
