Default Reverse not engaging

Was told in another part of the forum to post this here, so here I am!

Hey, everybody!

I'm not really new to the forum, I've been lurking ever since I bought my AP1 in 2005.

At this point the car is an F24C-T running 510whp/400tq @15psi. This set up (or very similar) has been in the car for about 28K miles now/4 years. Everything else minus the motor/clutch/flywheel/Hondata is stock. (stock/original diff, axles, trans, driveshaft, suspension, brakes, etc. still in the car--completely stock.

Engine:
Stroked/Turbo F20C (F24C-T, now)
Hondata ECU
Competition Stage 5 clutch 8023-1420
Competition LW Flywheel 2--669-ST

Last drove the car about two weeks ago and it drove fine. Reversed out of the garage as usual (Reverse has been quite chattery with this clutch/flywheel setup) and drove the car for some spirited laps in the hills in/around Mechanisburg/Carlisle, PA. Parked the car and went to my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary. My father also drove the car later that night with no problems. Last week my parents were in Scotland and the car sat. Went this weekend to go drive it and the car would not engage reverse.

The Reverse Lights do come on, though the car does not feel like it "grabs" a gear and with the Reverse Lights on it simply revs up and does not move. Car moves in forward gears, though there is some metallic sound coming from either the clutch/trans, as if something is contacting the clutch as it rotates, or a piece of the clutch material is coming off. Drove it in forward gears 1, 2 to see if it would shift/move and it did with no issues (no slipping/no grinding) just the metallic sound previously described. I then turned around and put the car back in the garage and towed it to my work (BMW Raceshop here in South Philly)

Before I go to start tearing into the car to get this figured out, I was wondering if anyone's seen or heard of this before?

What transmission options are there out there (never really looked into it as the trans has held up flawlessly thus far) for the AP1? Just the PPG Helical Gears--does anyone here have any personal experience with that kit? Has anyone adapted (bellhousing adapters) any other transmissions to fit this chassis? Has anyone ever worked with a Quaffe or Samsonas sequential gearbox on these cars? Anyone have a known good trans they're trying to get rid of?

Hope to get some good answers here. My friend Aaron (Seoul2K) always talks so highly of S2Ki.........

-Chris

p.s.
and I know this seems like the lazy way to do this, but I recently just moved and have no cable/internet at my new place as of yet. Furthermore, I'm unable to meander the search function while at work.

Any/all help would be appreciated.

p.s.s.
Just drove the car again today on my lunch break and here is what I found:

It is not the clutch. The car propels itself in forward gears and changes gear without issue(only thing clutch does in the transmission). Metallic sound is heard with clutch pedal depressed and car rolling(meaning the transmission is rotating, but not with the engine)

For a street driven turbo S2000 I would pick the v160 (Supra tranny) conversion from Full Blown motorsport. LJ does great work and quite a few of the turbo drag guys use it.

I would have gone that route myself if it wasn't for the gearing (too short for what I need).

Thanks for the input.

Do you know the best way to contact them? I called and emailed to no avail.

It may be early in the day Central Standard Time. They're pretty responsive.

Sounds like a bent or broken shift fork. Check the magnetic drain plug for broken parts or heavy metal grindings.
