That looks cool. thx for the photos.

One difference I notice is I am using the wider ratchet strap, and I feed it through the wheel centers, as I have those removed on my racing wheels.

Not sure if that matters re: splaying or not.

Going to try it out tommorrow.

Tire Tail Review

I just installed a tire tail as an alternative to pulling a trailer and after my first track day with it, I was very pleased. It did not offer the additional tool box transportation that the trailer offers but it was effective for getting my track tires to the track.

Pro's - inexpensive - easy to install once the hitch was on - and it carried the tires securely - trunk was fully accessible with the tires on - and there was not a noticable difference in handling on the highway versus a trailer wanting to wiggle

Cons - I had covers on the tires going to the track it was reported by others that they billowed out enough to block my taillights. Brake lights are visible without the covers but somewhat obstructed. License plate is not visible from behind - if you come across a cop looking to get you for something,

I need to make some sort of padding between the center two wheels, they got scratched up a little which is not a big deal on my track wheels but could be for others,

It took my pea brain a little while to figure out that the wheels have to go back on in the same configuration (front on inside for example) as the way you drilled the holes for the locking pin. If you reverse them the hole is not in the right place. Duh.

I don't have a place to store a trailer and I know that I would continue to take more and more "stuff" if I had one, so the Tire Tail was a great alternative for me to transport track wheels.

Yes! See the last photo in my post on the first page. At least they are in all states that I know about.
In Florida, the fee is small (~$25/year).

$25 + tax on the trailer purchase (if ordered online) + Fast Tag service = $98 I am sure it varies state to state, but FWIW, PA does not require inspection on trailers with a gross weight less that 3000. So that was good.
