Ok, so they were alright on first impression. I was however running on sealed blacktop. Also I was running Hawk Blue racing pads which didn't in my opinion work as well as OE pads cold. I think the road race compounds on concrete with stock pads would be a good combo though

 

I run RA1's on my RX-8 for autocross and they work great, MUCH faster than falken RT615's etc but not as fast as V710's and last forever. Plus you can change tires and drive to the event/back. You won't be competitive on a national level though.
