I'm sure he can do better if there's enough interests.....

Lucas Racing at Houston, TX is the shop that build this roll bar for me.

I'll give them a call tomorrow.

I'm trying to find a solution (i don't care if its permanent or NOT) that will ALSO work with the soft top. So far . . . no dice.
I got this roll bar because I just don't feel comfortable of the idea that my head is actually sticking higher than my stock roll hoop when I have my helmet on. I do about 6-8 DE and 4-6 autoX a year and I felt that the extra protection is needed especially when I saw how "small/tiny" the stock roll hoop is...

Now, this roll bar WILL NOT pass any road racing sanctioning body. (SCCA, NASA...etc) Like jahwerx mentioned above, you'll need to do a 6 pt Roll Cage + Hard Top for road racing. Personally, I preferred a 8 pt cage but a 6 pt will do the job.

I think the Mugen roll cage will works with the soft top but it only has 5 pt though...

Anybody have experience with "Monkey Bars"? I see them on cars at car shows.

Purely cosmetic. Not a safety item.

Peter,

thanks for the additional info, very helpful. If you come up with an appearance solution, or if your fabricator is interested in mass production.

Thanks again,

Ted

Guys,

I've talked to Lucas Racing today and they are willing to put them into production.

They are very busy today so I didn't have a chance to get down to the detail with them on the phone.

I'll be out of town till early next week so I'll try to answer all of your questions when I get back. sorry....

I'm very interested in improving the roll hoops in the car. I've responded to your poll and want to show these photos here for people to see. They are from 3333's car, but I don't know if he's still around or what happened to the car. Perhaps they can be used to help refine the design. I like the way the plastic trim has been integrated into this hoop design.

3333 shipped his car from upstate NY to some guy in Cleveland to do the work. Here's the contact info.

prostreet46@aol.com

Prostreet Chassis
Al Morgan
4162 Greenwich Rd
Norton, OH 44203

(330) 336-5194

If I remember, he charged Gary about $500-600 incl. installation over a year ago and had his car for over a week. If he still has the patterns we may be OK.
