Rollbar extensions work on Boxsters because the metal roll hoops are exposed. The roll hoops in the S2000 are covered in plastic, so any additional bolt-on solution would involve cutting the plastic off. Not only would this be ugly, but I wouldn't trust the rollover protection afforded by bolt-on extensions anyway.
IMO, the only way to get inexpensive functional rollover protection is with the Elda Engineering bar or the Bitterman rollbar. In addition, you will usually need to combine the rollbar with a lower aftermarket seat in order to have sufficient clearance over the helmet to be meaningful.

I do like the look and effort that went into the Elda bar, and I'm seriously considering it. The seat is real issue for me. I've had to raise the stock seat 3/4" due to arthritis problems and a racing seat with less padding can only make things worse. Damn this aging thing.
