Rookie at Solo II Nationals
I would like to personally and publicly thank Steve (PedalFaster) for affording me the opportunity to co-drive with him at Nationals. It was tough initiation as a rookie driving a strange car, on unfamiliar surface, in the rain on day 1. I showed up on day 2 for more humiliation, but actually had the most fun and excitement ever at a Solo event. Steve helped me immensely with his course walking advice and detailed explanations of the nuances of his car's handling. If only I had better driving skills.
Thanks again Steve, and I hope you had an uneventful return to Seattle. See you in Topeka next year. I wouldn't miss it for anything.

Nice report! Too bad Kansas is so far away for me .
I have been able to attend more local National Tour events. It was humbling as well, but I learned a lot from national caliber competitors too (thanks Jason!). Most autocrossers are pretty friendly and helpful.

Keith, it was my pleasure to codrive with you. I'm glad you had fun! I look forward to going head-to-head with you (and perhaps your new shocks ) next year.
CoralDoc, even after my most disastrous Nationals ever, I have to tell you that it's worth the trip. Plus I have very little pity for you, as I believe Seattle's the farthest you can get from Topeka without leaving the continental United States...

I didn't think it was true, but you're correct Steve. According to Yahoo Maps, it's 1900.2 miles from Seattle to Topeka and a mere 1539.9 miles from Fort Lauderdale to Topeka . I hope to join the fun one of these years.
