Default running semi track pads without backing plates???

I bought some SBS blue front pads for my Evolution... they would not fit even after opening the calipers the entire way... so I had to grind down some of the pad... anyway... I got tired of grinding and decided not to put the backing plates in for now... any problems with that for 2 weeks of street driving??? i figured in 2 weeks I will have worn away enough to fit the backing plates in there.

thanks for the help!

Scot

ps...the stock backing plates only cover 1 of the pistons and about 1/2 of the 2nd one....

I don't bother with shims (backing plates) on my race pads anymore.

After futzing around with grease, anti-squeal compound, shims, etc. in an effort to keep my track pads semi-quiet on the street, I just gave up and live with the noise and swap them out more quickly back to street pads.

Perfect... thanks guys... I wasn't sure if it helped spread the load of braking more evenly over the pad or what they were used for... I will drive with out them!!!!
