Default Squeaky Brakes

Does anyone else have experience with the Hawk HPS pads and the stock rotors?

On the street, or in stop and go traffic to be more precise, they squeek almost as loudly as the warning indicators do on the stock pads? Is this normal? Can it be adjusted? Or will i just have to get another set of OEM's and save the Hawks for the track?

I have the same pads and man do they squeak. Everyone stares at me like i'm crazy for bringing that thing out in the street. A solution you can try that worked for me is buying the anti-squeak stuff from your local kragen or pep-boys. It definately worked for me. Now the squeaking almost never occurs. But once in a while you'll hear it squeak a little. No more crazy squeaking here though.

hope that helps!

Hawk HPS pads aren't really track pads. They are aggressive street pads. On the track, the pads would fail and leave deposits on your rotors, ruining the rotors. Here is a link to more information on that. http://www.stoptech.com/whitepapers/...otors_myth.htm

BTW, I'm not talking about the drag strip track.

Pads that you should use on the track would be the Hawk HT-14, Hawk HT-10, PFC 01, PFC 97, and others of the sort.

When choosing pads, everything is a give and take senario. Noise and dust is given up when you give up performance. The more performance oriented pads make more noise and more dust.

My car sounds like a bus coming to a stop at everylight. They kick up dust like crazy as well. But man I love the performance.

One of the reasons why the squeak or make noise is because the pads aren't up to optimal operating temperatures. Higher temperature compound pads work best in optimal temperatures.
