Default S2000 adjustable cam gears

Hi, guys (gals)!

It's been a while since I've posted to this forum but I need some help. I need adjustable cam gears for the cams on my S2000. Anybody know where I can get them? Alternatively, some offset Woodruff keys would probably do the trick as I jump around between cam teeth.

Also does anyone know the spec for the lobe centers relative to crankshaft position on a stock S2000?

Thanks and all the best,

Jim Knapp

Both myself and davepk run the toda adjustable cam gears. They're made from oem gears.

TODA is the only company that makes them.

Yes of course, but I can't say how much as multiple things were done at once.

AP2 w/ AP1 cams and the cam gears make a fair bit of power.

Huh...I've heard people talking about swapping the intake cam, but not both.

Hey, Krazik, how be ya'?

How much did you shell out for those Toda adjustables BTW? There's got to be an easier way. I was asking Bruce Crower (Crower Cams/Cranks/Rods/etc.) today what he does (he runs S2000's in his niece's mini sprint car) and he says they just grind the cams to use the stock sprockets. Alternatively he suggested broaching multiple keyways into the sprocket bore like 2 degrees off from each other and then testing until you got it right.

I took an "old" cylinder head and sawed a big notch in the #4 end of it so I can watch what's going on in the cylinder as I fool around, but it would still be good to know what the stock specs are. I suppose I'll just have to get a degree wheel and figure it out, but hey... what else is new for hot rodders, huh?

Anyway, it's good to hear you're still racing.

BTW, any idea on the stock specs? I mean how did you figure which way to go and how much? What kind of "close" are you getting between the intake and exhaust valve, and each valve and the piston? On one setting for me so far they are like .012" apart and at one point for a couple degrees of crank rotation the exhaust is only .015" away from the piston. But that is on the down stroke as the valve "chases" the piston away from TDC before the piston picks up speed to "get away".

Any help would be beneficial.

All the best,

Jim

Do you mean Brian Crower?

Installing Toda adjustable cam gears sounds much simplier then what he is suggesting.
