I used a paint remover called Naval Jelly and a brillo pad. It worked like a charm, however you have to wipe it off quickly. Also, be careful because it's REALLY flammable.

soak it in goof-off over night and it falls off without scraping.

How much weight is there to be had by removing sound deadening?

Another, possibly silly weight reduction question.

Is it possible by lowering the weight of a otherwise stock S2000, that it would handle poorly (with stock suspension) then it would if it were to be left alone?

As long as you don't throw the front/rear weight balance off too bad, it will definitely handle better. Lighter weight means shorter braking distance, quicker turn-in, and higher power to weight ratio for getting out of the corner. When you gut the trunk and go to a lightweight exhaust, it can take too much weight off the rear and the rear wheels spin a bit more. Relocating the battery to the trunk fixes this problem. My car is still almost dead even at 50/50 weight distribution it's just MUCH lighter than stock.

Were you talking to me? I read this whole thread already, my question wasnt really answered directly. The whole lighter is better was mentioned, but I don't know whether or not there is some exception (possible center of gravity change, or maybe the stock suspension operates best with a certain amount of weight on it. ) or something like that. I don't pretend to know what I am really talking about, so excuse my noobness.
