S2K Challenge Wing question
Do the Voltex Type 1 and Type 1S wings qualify as a level 2 wing (1.00 point)?
Here are the 2010 rules for wings:
0.50 = level 1 wing (CR wing or smaller)
1.00 = level 2 wing (APR GTC-200 wing or smaller)
1.50 = level 2 wing with riser (APR GTC-200 wing with riser)
2.00 = level 3 wing (any adjustable wing bigger than APR GTC-200)
I looked up the dimentions of the APR GTC-200 wing
Length: 59.50 inches
Width: 9.50 inches
Height: 10.50 inches
Voltex Type 1
Length: 1500mm = 59.06 inches
Width: ???
Height: ??? (stands are 245mm = 9.65 inches)
Voltex Type 1s
Length: 1480mm = 58.27 inches
Width: ???
Height: ???
Based on length alone it would seem that they are both smaller than the GTC-200 but does width come into play?

It is suppose to be the surface area, how wide and how long the wing is. The rules was made before this wing was produced. So for right now, if it is wider then an apr gtc-200, it will be 2.00.

From the pictures in the thread above, the type 1s looks about the same size as an apr gtc-200.
...If only it was the same price.
