Exactly how is this an "Under The Hood" question?

Because he is going to need instructions on how to swap a diff afterwards.

I started not launching. Im too scared to blow my diff, and i dont have spare money around to get a new one.

Dont dump it at 7xxx, you can, but its going to destroy things in the long run. If you must launch the s2000, find the sweet spot. Try reving it above 5,500 after vtec would kick in and then go. You need some wheel spin to release friction in the drivetrain.

Also use the search, there was an older thread about launching the s2000. Xviper responded heavily in it with very good tips and information.

Just remember one thing, if you use someones advice on the site and the diff blows, its still your fault

I prefer this method. This tends to be abit easier on the diff, until you come down. I beat a Dodge Viper GTS like this once. (sorry, couldn't resist)

i was joking about the 7000rpm clutch drop.... by the way.. vtec doesn't kick in at 5500rpm....

but to be honest... i rev it up to 5800rpms... make sure you get wheel spin.. and you're off... i've had good results with that... also lower the rear tire pressure a little if you want to get more traction if you're at the drag strip...

i figured you were. vtec kicks in at different points depending on climate. Mine kicks in at 5800rpm. Some owners have reported it kicking in at low 5,000's. The computer responds differently.

The main thing to remember, it takes only one launch to blow a diff. You can launch it 100 times no problem, but that one launch is gonna happen eventually.
