hi guys, help me represent honda... TNN's fairly new show Super 2NR will be doing a Honda vs. Nissan (Civic vs. Sentra/NX2000) battle @ streets of willows. I'll be representing a Honda driving Ryan H's (of Honda/Acura Club) Civic hybrid. I've had a good amount of seat time @ SOW, and my totally un prepared del Sol did very well on the SOW course during the SCC G-Force Challenge (Reese Millen was driving heheh)... how ever the bowl on the back section always bugs me; it never feels quite right to me.

Could you guys please share you opinion and experience there. I've seen many different lines through there. My normal line is, on the high speed left hander approching the bowl, I sort of hug the left side, and get a good WOT exit out of it, thus bringing me close to the right part of the track. I brake hard in a straight line, hug the inside, and go WOT as early as I can. It doesn't feel right because it would seem I should enter wider, and try to carry more speed through. However, if I go higher, it feels like I can not "apex" toward the bottom. It sort of seems like a Nascar bank thingy, where either you take the high line, or low line, but not quite both. What do you guys think?

I'm actually a little nervous as some of the Nissan's are rumored to be very high powered. But as we all know, it is corner speed that counts and with the help of Eibach setting up the car I'm sure that will be no problem as long as the driver will do a good job. So please help me master the bowl. TIA!!

Your line sounds pretty good Frank. The biggest difference I noted between what j2k and I did vs. everyone else was the exit of the previous right-hander. People were giving up lots of exit room to "set up" for the big left hand sweeper. In actuality there's tons of time to get back over, and no need to pinch that off. From there it's flat out through the sweeper, diving into the bowl on the low side (@ ~85mph in the S2k), and braking in a straight line. As you start turning the bowl's banking will help you get rotated and slowed down. From there it's soon back to WOT for the rest of the way out, taking it on the low side.

I'm buddies with one of the Nissan driver/car entries, and let me tell you - you've really got your work cut out for you.

Spent the last two days driving an STS Civic at the Fontana ProSolo, it was quite a good time. Hadn't raced a front-driver for 5 years or so, and was surprised how much fun it could be (with really high rear spring rates, that is ). If anyone in the Honda camp has a car that needs a driver, keep me in mind. I'm quite comfy in the clockwise-full-w/bowl config @ SOW.

ohh? describe the car...

i'm guess i'm not that worried about the competition, since it is a time trial afterall. the car i'm driving will have good potential, as long as I can get close to 100% out of it the result should be good. so i'm my own worst enemy.

btw here's the info...

i think the honda cars/drivers has been finalized for a while. from what it says, it won't be a spectator event so you have to be invited to get in the track.

Well I don't really have any details, but I will say that of the hundreds of people I've met at the track and autocross, there are only 4 or 5 I feel really know what they're doing - and this person is one of them.

Good luck man, you're going to need it!
